Purpose of the awards
Foundation Certificate and Diploma Studies Second-Chance Education Awards are for women who are engaging in tertiary education for the first time, at either a Foundation Certificate level (NZQA level 3-4) or Diploma level (NZQA level 5-6), who do not already have a tertiary qualification at that level. If you have previously undertaken a Foundation Certificate programme and are now doing a Diploma programme you can apply.
In both categories, the awards are a one off grant to help with study and/or living expenses.
This year we have an award sponsored by the Business & Professional Women Auckland specifically for a woman enrolled in a Business related foundation certificate or diploma course at an institution in the Auckland region.
There is an award for a woman studying for an IT (information technology) qualification.
There are awards targeted to Bay of Plenty and Waikato applicants. Waikato Graduate Women Educational Trust sponsor 3 awards at this level. (Toi Ohomai are sponsoring 5 awards for women studying at Toi Ohomai or Waikato University - apply under Toi Ohomai Second-chance Education Foundation awards).
