Diploma Awards sponsored by Toi Ohomai

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology raise funds annually to sponsor awards through New Horizons Women Trust: Hine Kahukura.

Purpose of the awards

Toi Ohomai are sponsoring five awards of $1,400 for women studying Foundation Certificate/Diploma (NZEA level 3-6 level) programmes of at least one semester in duration. The awards are restricted to women studying at Toi Ohomai or Waikato University.

These awards will be given to applicants from each of the five sub-regions of the Bay of Plenty:

  • Tauranga

  • Rotorua

  • Whakatane

  • Taupo

  • Tokoroa

The awards are a one-off grant to help with study and/or living expenses during study. The money may be used for tuition costs in pursuit of an approved course of study, experiential development, transport costs, costs associated with disabilities, childcare or other study and/or living expenses. They may be used in combination with funding from other sources.  

 

Eligibility criteria

The applicant is a woman, who:

  • Is studying at Toi Ohomai or Waikato University

  • Does not already have a tertiary qualification at the proposed level of study

  • Is a New Zealand citizen or holds a resident class visa, and lives in New Zealand

  • Has not previously received a NHWT:HK Award at Foundation Certificate/Diploma level

If you have previously undertaken a Foundation programme and are now doing a Diploma programme you can apply.


When selecting awardees, the selection panel considers the following:

  • Financial circumstances

  • Use of funds

  • Personal circumstances

  • Academic achievements

  • Evidence of ability as a role model

  • Experience
